Native Cottage Garden

Showcasing a dense arrangement of unique California plant cultivars, this vibrant design radiates joyful colors and delightful fragrances from its abundance of flowers. A charming pathway adds an inviting touch, making the journey to the front door an integral detail that enhances the home's overall appeal. During the construction of the pathway, the excavated soil was creatively repurposed atop layers of cardboard in a technique known as “sheet mulching,” effectively removing the existing grass. This process allowed for lovely mounds to be formed, introducing a subtle topography that enriches the landscape. Rustic elements like wood and stone contribute to a warm, cozy atmosphere. One of the key advantages of this design is its low maintenance; once established, the garden requires minimal upkeep, seamlessly marrying beauty with practicality. A drip irrigation system serves as a safeguard during periods of severe drought; however, the resilient native plants thrive beautifully on natural rainfall, minimizing the need for supplemental watering.
