Pocket Area, Sacramento
A thirsty non-native turf area was converted to a beautiful, thriving, mostly-native front yard scene for people, birds, animals, and insects to enjoy. Combining art and function, this project features an attractive dry creek bed that collects rainwater runoff from the roof and landscape area and uses it as a means of natural irrigation by routing the water to the plants on site. This project was rebated in full by Sacramento's River Friendly Landscape program.
East Sacramento
A front yard full of lavenders and native plants buzzes with life in this design! Native bumblebees and honeybees dance around the yard, which once used to be a lifeless turf lawn with overgrown shrubs. A low fence encompasses the yard to aid with dog-sitting. A cozy sitting area overlooks the space, where the calming trickle of the centrally-located "bee rest stop" (aka a bee-friendly water fountain) can be heard.
3D Concept, Valley Springs
Beautiful existing oaks and a dramatic slope create the foundation to an otherwise blank canvas of a backyard. A conceptual design makeover visualizes the space as a resort-style scene, complete with luxury pool, pool house, hot tub, fire pit area, grand staircase, and viewing overlook to take it all in.
Native Foraging, West Sacramento
An under-utilized back yard was turned into a space for a large family to gather, play, and most uniquely, forage. A palette of edible Northern California native plants were selected alongside traditional garden species as a way to create a unique foraging garden, where plants with edible qualities (such as leaves for making tea, berries for eating, and herbs for cooking) were woven into the planter beds amongst other natives and a few non-natives. Water-saving native turf was installed for dogs, children, friends, and family to use and enjoy.
